A public health nurse is available Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (except on statutory holidays) to answer questions on prenatal, infant and child care, includes preconceptional health, healthy pregnancies, postpartum mood disorders, breastfeeding, child growth and development, parenting, nutrition, and child safety. Referrals can be made to a number of programs, including Healthy Babies, Healthy Children, Breastfeeding Buddies, and Take Control Baby Steps.
Dial-a-Dietitian is a telephone nutrition information service coordinated and delivered by registered dietitians. Registered dietitians answer general questions on a wide range of nutrition-related topics such as healthy eating, feeding your family, food allergies, nutrition during pregnancy, and nutrition for infants and toddlers. This service is provided free of charge.
This class helps parents understand the eating behaviours of toddlers and preschoolers with a focus on Canada’s Food Guide and the nutritional requirements of children. It provides practical tips, tactics, and child-friendly recipes. Click on the Events link at the top of the page for the dates and locations of these classes in the KFL&A area or call the Child & Babytalk Line for registration information.
