Food Premises Inspections
Public health inspectors inspect all food premises within the KFL&A area to ensure safe food handling practices are being followed. Public health inspectors also ensure that food premises meet the requirements of the Ontario Food Premises Regulation (O. Reg. 562).
Food Safety Consultations
Public health inspectors are available to answer food safety questions from the public.
Home Occupation Food Premises
Anyone in the KFL&A area considering a operating a food business out of their home must consult with a public health inspector from KFL&A Public Health to determine the requirements. You can also click on the health information sheets tab at the right for more information on home occupation food premises.
KFL&A Public Health offers safe food handling training for food services workers and the general public. The training is lead by public health inspectors and consists of a day of instruction and a certification exam. Successful candidates receive a certificate which is valid for five years.
