Public health inspectors from KFL&A Public Health’s Environmental Health and Communicable Disease Prevention programs inspect all licensed daycare operations in the KFL&A area. Public health inspectors work with daycare operators to ensure they follow safe food handling and infection control practices.
Public Health Dietitians from KFL&A Public Health are available to answer menu planning questions by calling Dial-a-Dietitian.
Private practice Registered Dietitians in the community may be available for formal menu reviews for a fee. Local Registered Dietitians can be found by visiting the Dietitians of Canada website at:

Presented by a public health dietitian and community food advisor, this workshop is for daycare staff who are involved in planning menus. Workshop attendees will:
- learn how to plan nutritious menus according to the Day Nurseries Act,
- sample a variety of child-friendly recipes,
- receive sample menus prepared by participants,
- receive a copy of “Planning Nutritious Menus: A comprehensive guide to planning a menu in a day nursery”.
