Snacks are foods or drinks you have between meals. Eating between meals can be a part of a healthy lifestyle. Choose snacks that contain fibre and protein and are low in fat, sugar, and salt. Try these healthy snack ideas to help meet your nutritional needs:
  • celery and carrot sticks with hummus,
  • melba toast and peanut butter,
  • unsalted nuts and a cup of vegetable juice,
  • bean dip with red, green and yellow pepper strips,
  • trail mix, containing nuts and dried fruit,
  • fruit cup with vanilla yogurt,
  • whole grain crackers and cheese, or
  • apple slices topped with peanut butter and raisins.
